"Once again, we are setting an example for the continued dynamic growth of the Seifert Logistics Group. We also see this immense investment as a guarantee for the continuity of our activities," says Harald Seifert, Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Seifert Logistics Group, who sees the corporate group well positioned for the future. Beyond the expansion that is now planned, the site in Ulm North offers additional development potential with the possibility of a further increase in logistics space. The reason for the expansion is the demand for logistics services, which has been increasing for years. Strategically well located, the Ulm North site favours the further development of the business of the family-run corporate group: the site is easy to reach via the A7 and A8 motorways between Stuttgart and Munich, and the Ulm North motorway exit is directly at the logistics centre. The immediate proximity to the container railway station leads to connections to other modes of transport and thus also to the seaports.
60,000 pallet spaces and space for value added services
By the end of the first quarter of 2022, 60,000 additional pallet spaces and space for value-added services will be created in the new multi-user logistics centre in Ulm North. Existing and new customers will be able to take advantage of contract logistics services there. In addition to storage, these include labelling, repackaging, 3D printing and assembly. The property meets the requirements of various industrial and retail sectors from pharmaceuticals and food to FMCG or lithium-ion batteries. Depending on requirements, the space can be used as a high-rack or block warehouse. "In order to ensure our usual high quality even with increasing volumes, we will also increase our staffing levels in parallel to the storage and handling capacities," says Seifert. When operations begin, up to 400 people will be employed in Ulm North.
New sustainable administrative headquarters
In the future, the location will no longer be used only as a logistics centre, but also as headquarters. The current headquarters in Ulm's Donautal will be sold. For this purpose, an administration office will be built on the roof of the hall. The entire property is planned according to the most modern standards and therefore offers a pleasant working atmosphere. Sustainable building technology with photovoltaic systems and efficient insulation also ensures a good energy balance.
