Seifert Logistics Group exceeds 2023 turnover target

In the fast lane: focus on acquisitions and sustainability

  • Turnover rises to over 320 million euros
  • Contract Logistics division contributes significantly to growth
  • Seifert opens new location in Bremen

The Seifert Logistics Group (SLG) can look back on an extremely successful financial year in 2023, which produced positive results despite the tense economic situation. With a turnover of more than 320 million euros, the company recorded an increase in turnover of more than 20 percent compared to the previous year, exceeding the targets set for 2023.

The positive development is also reflected in the increasing number of employees. Over the course of the year, the 4,000th employee was hired, creating over 1,000 new jobs for the Seifert Logistics Group.

Business performance in 2023

The most significant growth drivers in the financial year were the acquisition of our new location in Bremen on the one hand and the expansion of existing contract logistics projects on the other," according to Axel Frey (CEO of the Seifert Logistics Group).
The acquisition of Lorel Logistik GmbH at the beginning of the year was a key factor in this positive trend. As part of the integration process into the company organisation, the Bremen site now operates by the name Seifert Logistik Bremen GmbH. Other important milestones in contract logistics included the opening of the new site in Bitterfeld-Wolfen and the expansion of the Leipzig and Kabelsketal sites. In total, the logistics company currently manages more than 950,000 square metres of logistics space.
Despite the economic challenges, the transport division remained steady in 2023. The fluctuations in volumes were balanced outby new building materials projects, among other things. In addition, five new eTrucks were successfully put into operation. In some cases, eTrucks are used in inbound logistics, allowing the Seifert Logistics Group is helping to ensure that this can be handled purely electrically in the future.

Achievements & awards

The year 2023 was a year of numerous successes and awards for the Group. The commitment to sustainability was recognised by winning the Eco Performance Award.
The "Logistics Leader of the Year 2023" award acknowledged Harry Seifert (Chairman of the Advisory Board) and Axel Frey (CEO) as leading players in the logistics industry. This award reflects the excellent performance and innovative strength that the company has demonstrated over the course of the year. In addition, Harry Seifert was honoured as the marketing personality of the Ulm/Neu-Ulm region.
The Seifert Logistics Group supports the development of its employees through various internal training courses, such as the Advanced Management Program. In 2023, the first eleven participants successfully completed the program after one and a half years. Due to the positive response from the participants and the organisation, the second phase was launched at the same time.

Perspective and high sustainability goals

Sustainability remains a key concern at all levels. A comprehensive sustainability report was prepared for the first time for 2022. The company has also set itself ambitious targets for 2033 to continue reducing its ecological footprint. Investments in photovoltaic systems at the logistics centres demonstrate the strong commitment to sustainability. This measure not only helps to reduce energy costs, but also helps to achieve ecological goals. The integration of eTrucks into the company fleet and day-to-day business are further steps towards emission-free logistics.
The plans of Seifert Logistics Group show a positive forecast for the upcoming year, with the aim of generating sales of over 350 million euros. This optimistic perspective is supported by the continued implementation of the #nextLevel strategy. The strategy is planned to be driven forward in the new financial year and will be fully implemented by the end of the year. As part of the realignment, the employer branding strategy will also be redesigned in order to attract talented specialists and retain existing employees in the long term.
