Ulm – The Seifert Logistics Group has achieved record turnover once again. A revenue increase of 9 percent to 197 million euros was achieved in 2018 by the logistics and carrier specialist with head office in Ulm, which operates across Europe. Employee numbers and internationalisation continue to grow steadily. The company has set the course for further growth in 2019 thanks to several lighthouse projects.
Ulm's Seifert Logistics Group continued its success story in 2018. The Europe-wide company has improved its turnover yet again. Thanks to an increase by nine percent to 197 million euros, last year was the most successful in the company's 70-year history. This means the company has almost tripled its turnover since 2006. By opening two new locations, the logistics and forwarding service provider has also expanded its managed logistics space by eleven percent to 575,000 square metres.
"Be one millimetre better"
Seifert Logistics also runs smoothly as a job machine. Both internationally and nationally, the Group has created lots of jobs. The Seifert Logistics Group has increased its employee numbers fivefold since 2008 to around 1,900 today. "We offer young people excellent prospects at our locations in Germany and throughout Europe as a whole", says the managing partner of the Seifert Group and son of the company founder, Harald Seifert.
The boss has made a name for himself and his Group in the logistics industry as a result of his success and his numerous honorary positions Harald Seifert, who is also known as "Mr Perfect", is a leading figure in logistics and on the "Wirtschaftsmacher" (economic makers) campaign. "For me there are three elementary things: commitment to quality, enthusiasm for our customers and an absolute will to innovate", says Seifert, following this statement by thanking his workforce: "All 1,900 employees are dedicated to being one millimetre better for our customers every day. I am extremely grateful for that."
Further growth is forecast for 2019
Thanks to various lighthouse projects, further growth is forecast for 2019: Seifert is opening another new site in July in Jawor, western Poland. Seifert Polska is responsible for production supplies for the new engine plant of a major German vehicle manufacturer and will create up to 350 new jobs over the next few years in an economically underdeveloped region. Around 40,000 square metres of logistics space has been created within the hall complex to supply the production lines. "This makes us one of the leading contract logistics service providers in Poland", says Jan Brachmann, Managing Director of Seifert Polska.
The Seifert Logistics Group has had a location in the French province of Lorraine since 2017 and is responsible for the entire logistics management for a German car manufacturer. The logistics experts will be expanding their capacity in the border region substantially over the next few years, creating lots of new jobs. "The region around Hambach is a significant future location for us, because the customer has established a competence centre for electromobility, enabling us to participate actively in this important future market", says Christian Stoll, Managing Director and COO of the Seifert Logistics Group.
Seifert Logistics Group advances digitisation
Digitisation has long been more than a buzzword for the Group. Seifert Logistics has been pursuing multiple projects in this future field for years. The company is steadily advancing the digitisation streams of Robotics, Mobile Learning, Additive Manufacturing and Business Intelligence. In Robotics it has deepened its development partnership with a start-up, and has implemented a range of pilot projects, such as the use of wearables, various business apps and drones. "We are involved in start-ups and are looking for more suitable partnerships, because we want to look ahead and shape the logistics of the future", says Seifert. The next generation are already on the starting blocks, as both of Harald Seifert's sons work in digitisation consulting.
